Yes, I know that everyone probably owns red lipstick and some sort of red eyeshadow, and I’m aware that I did not have a plethora of red makeup to choose from when creating this look, but the truth behind the look itself is to simply “be bold.” A lot of people these days are too afraid of standing out. Of course, this is hypocritical of me to say because I hate being the center of attention, but what use would it be for me to sit here at tell all of you how easy it is to be confident? Our minds all work in such different ways and mental/physical acceptance is one of the hardest things for most of us to attain, so a friendly reminder here and there never hurts (even for me). I understand that not all of us want to be “bold” or “audacious” when it comes to life and are rather content with just blending in with the crowd. I’m speaking to the ones with the burning passion of being unique or embracing who they are even if that’s not what’s “accepted.” This came to my mind last week when my friend Agia came into class wearing these stunning, olive green flared pants. She told me that she was “so nervous about wearing them to school.” That just made me think: I, as well as countless others, thought they were super fashion-forward and trendy, so why should she be scared at all? Taking risks are easier said than done, but truly, in the end all you have to lose is the fear that you began with. Take from it what you will….I was also listening to Taylor Swifts’ Red album.
